Payments¶
Overview¶
There are generally two separate classifications used for payments: payment type and payment method. Payment type describes the type of transaction being performed - a credit card transaction, a check or money order transaction, an installment loan transaction, etc. Payment method describes the way in which the purchase is being executed - buying outright or financing through one of the different finance options. The exact payment types and payment methods available very between the different JDM websites.
ShedBuilder¶
1 = Credit Card
2 = Check or Money Order
3 = Credit Card and Check / M.O.
4 = Installment Loan
1 = Buy, 50% down due today
2 = Rent to Own 36-Month
3 = Rent to Own 48-Month
4 = GreenSky 120-Month Financing (no longer available)
7 = Greensky 84-Month Financing
The Rent-to-Own (RTO) payment methods and the GreenSky financing methods (installment loans) are similar, but not identical. For an RTO purchase, sales tax is calculated and paid monthly to the state with each payment. For an installment loan, however, the sales tax is paid up front to the state when the product ships. For this reason, when calculating the monthly rate, RTO payment methods use the pre-tax subtotal of the order, while installment loan payment methods use the post-tax total of the order.
Garage Builder¶
1 = Credit Card
2 = Check or Money Order
3 = Credit Card and Check / M.O.
4 = Installment Loan
Garage Builder only supports requesting site visits, either by itself or alongside making a deposit. The actual purchase of the garage is handled offline. It is planned for Garage Builder to eventually support full purchases, similar to ShedBuilder.
Outdoors¶
Outdoors does not utilize payment methods. All transactions conducted through Outdoors are standard purchase transactions.
