Paint Rules

Breakdown

The method in which colors are priced is controlled by several factors:

  • Appropriate Partnumber

  • Build Type

  • Color Swatch

All three of these components come together when applying color to a shed or garage in order to generate accurate pricing. There are three types of Paint a user can have applied to their shed or garage:

  • Standard

  • Premium

  • Accent

The charge applied for paint is driven by the primary siding paint (aka Color 1). This is the paint used for the significant majority of the structure's surface area. Selecting a standard paint for Color 1 means that the standard paint charge will be applied, regardless of the paint type selected for Color 2 or Color 3. However, if three distinct paints are used, then an additional setup charge is applied.

There are two sets of rules and prices for the paint charge, depending on the build type.

  • Factory Built (FB) has no charge for primer, standard paint, and standard stain. There is an upcharge for premium paint or splash paint.

  • Built-on-Site (BOS) have no charge for primer, but do have a charge for standard paint and standard stain. There is an upcharge for premium paint or splash paint.

There are different part numbers for the different paint upcharges depending on which of the build type paint rules it falls under, so a FB order with premium paint will use a different part number (and have a different cost / sq ft) than a BOS or kit order with premium paint.
